IN MEMORY OF OUR BELOVED TISHKAM/TISHMOM aka MOM



Cathy's small quilt. The center picture is Cathy's fav picture of mom and mom's sister Vida, 2 years ago in the spring. I will try to figure out why this picture wanted to be sideways. But not right now. Also when I have time I will re-take pictures of the quilts and re-post. We have just been too busy to get the camera out.



















The quilt below is the larger one. The squares were made by many people from the chat room. The squares were then sent to QCL [Anne L.]who went


through all

the squares she received, and laid them out and put them together into quilt tops to create these beautiful master pieces. Cathy and I love the 'corner squares' she made to complete the smaller one, and also the various fabrics she used to border the large one.

Anne L. aka quilting crafty lady spent lots of time put the tops together and then sent the tops to me >Emily aka eanne to be quilted. Since I was unable to drive to Cathy's house, we had to wait for her to have time and dollars to come to my house and 'play with my quilt frame', and discuss various projects that 'mom' started that needed to be completed.

Cathy was finally able to load the car and head to Michigan.

After the car was off loaded, and the sewing room was put back together [a little shop vac work was needed to deal with water from heavy rain] we started looking at projects.

A bit later we finally started taking quilts off the bed in the guest room [I store quilts on the bed]. Remembering the ones I had when at the farm and giggles and memories of each. When we finally got to this big one, Cath saw 'diamond' written on a square and wondered why diamond would make a square for someone. I told her to start reading the names. I finally had to tell her that this was her quilt. Then we looked at the next one, the smaller one with the picture of Tish and Vida. She knew these were both for her.

She loves them both and thanks everyone that helped create these memories of Tishkam [mom] !!!!



These are the labels I made for each quilt, listing everyone that participated. Thank you everyone! Oh - auntieem from the chat room helped do some of the hand quilting one day when she came to visit. I am sorry auntieem - I forgot to add your name.

Basement Sewing space

Sewing room with quilt frame in the same room now. The frame will hold a King size quilt. The TV on the left sewing table will be moved. The deer is my first 'buck', he just happens to be a button buck. I am thinking about using 'un-used quilt squares' to 'tile the ceiling'. I think it would nice.

Different angle. You can see the cutting table past the frame, the wood you see on the left of the frame is one side dropped down. I still have to clean up the small stuff.

Looking towards the music end of the room. One of Peter's co-workers stopped by and we had to give the tour. You can see his monitor at the far end. [music computer]. The gold fabric is over 2 keyboards that are 'stacked'.
I will take and post more pictures when its all finished.

Kindee and Shelby

Tuna wraps for late lunch. She has her mother's eyes.

My grand daughter and great grand-daughter came over today. We had fun. And of course I have to take pictures. You can tell that the corn grew a bit since the last postings of the garden.

Even though she was smiling, she tried to be mad, but it didn't work, LOL

New Vegetable Garden

This sign was given to me several years ago by friends that came to visit me.















This is a view of the new garden from the north.

Beans. 4 different kinds.
You can see the legs of the 'funny contraptions' that we found here - they are coming in handy for things to climb in the gardens. The 'post' is a metal pole that came with the house. It could possibly be what is left from an old clothes line pole. I have an old fashioned pump with handle that looks nice on top of the pole. Oh that is spinach planted at the base of the pole.

Mail Box

We moved our mail box today. We had some problems getting our mail last winter because the snow plow did not get close enough to the curb. The mail truck could not safely stop and get mail into our box. The box used to be on the post with the numbers. We added another post at the end of the driveway so that people can see our drive. [ we hope it works, get tired of people trying to re-end us when we slow to turn in ]. We also painted them white - makes our yard look a bit elegant ...... :)

Flowering Crab Apple tree

I had been up from a nap for about 15 minutes when Peter wanted to go out and see the roof and take pictures.

I am glad we took these pictures last week. The brilliant color is gone now. The flowering Crab apple tree in our front yard. It is totally gorgeous this year!

Our New Roof

This is what the roof looked like when we bought the house.








This picture is part of the crew of [6], taking off the original shingles. Next shows the amount of new plywood.

We are finally getting work done on our roof. The back side is almost finished in some of these shots! And they had to replace a lot more plywood than originally thought. But we suspected there would be more damage under the 2 layers of shingles. I asked if the first layer was original, and they said probably so. The house was built in the 1950's . As you can see the back is almost complete, they started on the front today and hope to finish up the job tomorrow.































The new roof is finished and looks great!

You can see a little bit of the new garden fencing and gate in the lower left of this picture.

The cage on the deck is full of seedlings that we started in the house. I just cover the cage at night now - don't take them in and out every day.
